Back on Sunday 7th November 2010, Alexander Trinidad competed at the British Taekwondo Students Open in Birmingham, where he represented the University of Wolverhampton.

Alex has only recently moved to the under 80kgs weight category and was faced with his first opponent from the University of Edinburgh. Alex took the lead very early and ended the fight with an enormous victory of 36-17. As Alex reached the semi-finals, he put a great effort to win, but sadly had to settle with a bronze medal. Although his opponent was unable to progress into the final, as he obtained injuries when exchanging kicks with Alex.

The University had recently awarded Alex a Sport Scholarship, which aids him in developing further during his time at Wolverhampton.

Alex is well known for his dynamic kicking abilities in the ring. However, he turned his attention recently to running in support of raising money for "Motor Neurone Disease Association". On 26th October 2010, Alex chose to run for MND in the EDF Energy Half Marathon: race against climate change, held in Birmingham. He raised over £300 and finished in 3552 place out of an outstanding 15,000 participants. He completed the half marathon in a fantastic time of 1:55:36.

Alex would like to take this opportunity to thank Masters Ernest & Edward Garcia of the Gibraltar Taekwondo Association, who have provided him with the support needed during his time spent in the UK studying.
