Back on 1st & 2nd November 2008, Alexander Trinidad together with Frederick Martin, representing the Gibraltar Taekwondo Association, took part in the 1st BTCB (British Taekwondo Control Board) International British Open 2008 in Manchester, UK.

Alex lost at the quarter finals 0-7 in the under 72kgs category against Marco Schorten from Luxembourg, whilst Freddy also lost at the quarter finals 0-7 in the under 84kgs category against Daryl Stokes from the British Taekwondo Team. Daryl Stokes made it to the finals beating his opponent from South Korea at the semi-finals and won Silver medal against France, who won Gold.

This was the largest Taekwondo event to be held following the Beijing 2008 Olympics, for which a total of over 450 competitors from 21 different countries such as South Korea, Nigeria, Algeria, India, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Norway, Iran, France, Holland and Germany had entered the competition.

The standard was extremely high as the competitors which participated were “World Class” players. The competitors from South Korea and Iran were in fact professional players. Our representatives have achieved a great experience from this event.

Ernest & Edward Garcia together with the Gibraltar Taekwondo Association, wish to congratulate them on their participation.
